R&D leads to certified aviation production process
The attempt to combine the automotive industry know-how with the high quality requirements of aviation has resulted in a production process called Isothermal Resin Transfer Moulding, in which the temperature during the manufacturing process is not modified.
The cycle time, i.e. the time in which a complete component is manufactured, could thus be halved. The certification process lasted 2 years. In 2018, it was done. The technology is already being used in the construction of door frames of the A350. Currently, work is being carried out on the transfer of "actual" automotive manufacturing technology to aviation, namely high-pressure RTM.
The underlying research and development activities formed the basis for a long-standing cooperation between ALPEX and Airbus Helicopters and AAC.
