AIRlabs Austria inspires Austria-wide drone research

The BMK supports the development of an innovation laboratory for unmanned aerial vehicles and manned passenger drones. The contract has been awarded to the FH JOANNEUM consortium with its project "AIRlabs Austria".

With four million euros in project volume, 24 well-known partners from industry, research and public authorities develop test infrastructures for drones in five years. The unique multisite concept with six levels, which covers research and development, validation and use in real environments across all levels of technology, is particulary impressive.

It allows testing of a wide range of drone applications in difficult weather conditions in the Alps, flight operation in urban areas, as well as the monitoring of critical infrastructures. AIRlabs Austria is considered an international model project.
